Dawn Blake – Advisory Board Member

Dawn was born in Baltimore, MD and currently resides there with her husband and three children. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University in Television, Radio and Film Production in 1989.

She worked as a Marketing Assistant for The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company and a Marketing Coordinator for Ayers-Saint-Gross Architectural firm both located in Baltimore, Maryland.

In 1993, Dawn decided to pursue her true love of teaching and embarked on a career change. She received her Certificate in Teaching from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland a year and a half later. Dawn taught in the Howard County Public School System in Maryland where she participated in many committees and was nominated for an excellence in teaching award from her principal and peers.

Dawn took a leave of absence from teaching in 1997 and hopes to return within the next year. Dawn performs volunteer work through her church and in her children’s’ schools. Most recently she became certified in the Orton- Gillingham instructional technique for children with language based learning issues.
